This week Apple was the center of all the happening in the IT world! We started with very good news about the iPhone 5 release date which should be set for the 21st of September or somewhere around this date. Another good information is that the iPad Mini might be coming along with the iPhone 5 and will either come late September or somewhere in October. Of course this is all an expensive venture for Apple, and the 1 billion dollars that Samsung will have to pay them will certainly help! Yes, that's right - Apple won the court trial against Samsung in the USA. The Korean giant was fined roughly $1,051,850,000!
Of course Apple won't stop there, they will try to convince the court to ban all of the Samsung products that are using their patents. This is a lot of phones and most of them are cheaper lower-end devices. The Samsung Galaxy S3 isn't among them so the Apple iPhone 5 will still have to be pretty impressive to compete with Samsung.
However, I cannot stop and wonder if this is a bad thing for the users. If Samsung is out of the competition in the USA and HTC and LG already took a heavy punch in their share of the USA market, then that means Apple has no real competition on the USA mobile phone market. Sure, we love Apple and are happy for our favorite brand, but this lack of competition will equal lack of innovation. We don't need a new iPhone or other iDevice each year, but when we do get one it should be something great and innovative. We don't just want a bigger processor and a larger screen! We want innovation and something brand new from the iPhone 5 so let's hope Apple will step up its game and rally impress us!
