iPhone 5 – Everything you wanted to know in one place

iPhone 5, which was released on September 12, is Apple’s latest iPhone. Many people say that it is one of the best smartphones in the world. Check the specifications and features and judge that on your own.

First, a few words about design. iPhone 5 reminds a lot of iPhone 4S, but still it is much different. It is a bit taller (its dimensions are 124 X 59 X 7.6mm) and 20% lighter (it weighs 112 grams) than its predecessor. Being just 7.6 mm thin, it is one of the thinnest smartphones out there. It has a 4-inch Retina display with 1,136 x 640 resolution. The old Dock connector has been replaced with a new Lighting connector.

As for the camera, iPhone 5 comes with 8-MP camera. But, it comes with something new – Panorama. It lets you shoot up to 240 degress with one smooth motion, creating a high-resolution panorama up to 28 MP. You can record 1080p HD videos with the iSight camera, it supports face detection for up to 10 faces and it has a 1.2-MP FaceTime HD unit, which can capture 720p videos.

As for hardware, iPhone 5 comes with A6 CPU, which makes it twice faster than its predecessor. It has 1 GB of RAM and a built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery. The battery provides 8 hours of talking and internet use, 10 hours of video playback and 40 hours of audio playback.

As for software, it comes with iOS6, with updated Siri, Passbook and new Maps. Siri understands more questions and knows more answers. As for other features, it features Wi-Fi 802.11n, 4G LTE, HSPA+, GSM/EDGE and Bluetooth 4.0.

iPhone 5 comes in two colors – black & slate and white & silver. 16 GB version costs $199, 32GB version $299 and 64GB version $399.

iPhone 5 Sold Out via the Online Orders!

Well people, it is safe to say that Apple's iPhone 5 is sold out and its not even the been released! On Friday it was reported that in a very short times the order started kicking in once the device was presented on September the 12th. Soon enough we had reports that the iPhone 5 was sold out from the official website. This latest turn of events has made Apple's stocks sky rocket and its shares record high! Along with a series of legal deputes that Apple has won against Samsung, Motorola and Google this seems like a very good year for Apple and the iPhone 5 comes like a cherry at the top!

The order via the online store are closed for the time being and those who have ordered the the new iPhone 5 can expect to get their latest tech gadget on September the 28th, a full week after it gets released into the open market via carriers and shops.

"The initial batch is sold out," said Shaw Wu, an analyst at Sterne Agee & Leach Inc, indicating that there will no doubt me more goodies and offers from Apple for the iPhone 5.

While experts are saying that the iPhone 5 isn't selling as fast as the previous model but that does not necessary mean that Apple won't be earning a lot of revenue. In fact, it is expected that 58 million of the latest iPhone 5 devices may be sold out by the end of the year. This would generate as much as $36.2 billion in sales for the mobile industry giant, Apple.

The iPhone 5's price is brought down to as low as $199 for those who want to get the device via carriers such as Verizon and AT&T. Carriers are complaining that this a double-edged sword as it will cost them a lot of money in the start to give out these iPhone 5 units for such as cheap price, considering how much they bought them for from Apple. However, they should earn a lot since it is a two-year contract that their new clients will be signing so everyone should be happy in the end.

Craig Moffett at Sanford C. Bernstein said on Friday:

"The iPhone is a double-edged sword for the carriers. While the iPhone helps fuel customers' use of data, leading to higher phone bills, the initial costs create short-term pain."

Rotating iPhone 5 Black - Looking Good!

In situations like this we do not have the luxury of holding a device as it is still not in stores. Yet, how are we supposed to even consider preordering it then? Well, a 3D render model that is spinning around showing the device from all angles sounds like a hell of a good idea and I am glad the lads from 3D-Desk.com have already made a very nice animation of the iPhone 5! If you wanna see the large version, check this out.

iPhone 5 Presented to the World!

Surely you remembered that today is the day when Apple will present their latest generation of the iPhone, the much-awaited iPhone 5. As we reported previously the device was set to be presented today and should be on the market around the September 21st. This still isn't 100% official but we should hear the new from Apple soon enough.

Today, on September the 12th, in the "big apple" (NYC) the new iPhone 5 was presented to the world. The new device is 20% lighter and sports a 4 inch screen as all the display-related rumors suggested. Although the 0.5 perhaps don't mean a lot of to many people this is certainly a historical moment, at least for the company, as this is the first time that the iPhone stepped away from the original designs of Steve Jobs.

Apple also claims that the processor is twice as fast due to their new A6 chip. The device also finally has a 4G-LTE network connection which allows for networking speeds that are ten times as fast a 3G. Among others, the supported networks will include Verizon, Spring and AT&T, which will be the major iPhone 5 carriers.

A new feature for the iPhone 5 is the improved "iSight camera" which allows beautiful panoramic shots as well as better pictures in low light conditions. We cannot say anything more until some of the official specs and news are released but based on what I've seen on the live-stream of the event you can be sure that there are quite a few interesting new features awaiting the iPhone fans.

The device is expected to be released on the market for $199 with a two-year contract on September the 21st. This will influence the iOS ecosystem as the iPhone 4S will get a price drop of $100 meaning that it will cost $99 with a two-year contract while the older iPhone 4 will be a free option with a two-year contract. Not a bad deal for those who do not want the latest in technology but still want the branded quality that Apple provides!
